Buhlmann conquers all

The Millicent Bowls Club hosted the 2022 the Men’s Championship Singles last weekend with 26 players taking part in the competition.

The format of the weekend meant the first player to reach 21 shots up won the game.

After playing five games for the day, Kym Stewart was the first to reach the Grand Final.

John Buhlmann after playing four games and enjoying a bye in the first game also reached the decider having played some fine bowls.

Stewart and Buhlmann met on Sunday morning in the Grand Final which was played to the first player to reach 25 shots.

Buhlmann started off well winning the first four ends to enjoy a strong seven shots to 0 lead.

However, Stewart soon found his way and seized on the momentum winning the next five ends to snatch a 10-7 shot lead.

By the 12th end Stewart increased his score to 14 shots, but Buhlmann could not be discounted yet.

Buhlmann took over and went on an unstoppable tare to the trophy.

He dominated the closing stages to go on and win the Championship with a convincing 25-14.
