Twisted Threads will is hosting their annual Autumn Threads exhibition in the City Hall until May 1.

Hundreds of people are expected to flood through the hall to see the textiles on display with the event open from 9am-4pm for the first few days and closing early at 2pm on Sunday, May 1.

A percentage of profits and raffle proceeds will be donated to the Mount Gambier In Home Hospice Care and Mount Gambier Library.

The raffle will have several prizes including a CJ Yarn voucher valued at $100, handknitted rugs, craft books and toys.

Twisted Threads event coordinator Julianne Woodruff said the exhibition was also an opportunity to snap up some winter woolies.

Other items for sale include stuffed toys to everything you need to do it yourself including patterns, wool, needles, and crochet hooks.

The exhibition has previously taken place in the Mount Gambier Library but since 2020 has shifted to the City Hall to accommodate COVID-19 density limits.

“In previous years due to the restrictions we could not get as many people as we wanted to in the library,” she said.

“Our showcase has grown bigger and bigger filling the City Hall with all sorts of textiles.

“I do not think we could go back to the Mount Gambier Library because we have grown too large.

“The City of Mount gambier has kindly sponsored us each year by waiving the cost of the City Hall.

“Twisted Threads are always accepting donations of craft items which can be dropped off at the Mount Gambier Library.

“If people need to get rid of yarn, fabric, buttons, books or anything to do with textiles, we will gratefully accept them and what our members do not use, we then donate onwards.

“We have become almost like a donation clearing house for anyone with textiles they do not want to throw-out and which we are grateful for.”
