Season 2022 has finally come to an end for the Kongorong women’s football teams with their presentations being held on Saturday night.

Opening the night was President Amanda Sealey and in her comments thanked all involved during the season and highlighted the sponsors and without their help it would not happen.

Sealey also spoke about the season that was and how successful both women’s sides were in the competition and could not be any happier.

Coach of both sides Michael Deathmore took to the stage and also commented on the successful season both sides had and was beyond expectations.

Deathmore thanked all of his assistant coaches, helpers and anyone else who helped out and was proud of the way the girls conducted themselves.

The highlight of the season was the Under 16’s going all through the season undefeated and claiming the ultimate prize in the inaugural season.

Meanwhile the open women’s team won three games and played in their first final series.

The awards were presented to the Under 16’s first before the seniors were recognised.

The loudest applause were saved for Jade Longbottom, who had a standout season winning the best and fairest gongs for both open and Under 16 sides.

Kate Wright was awarded her best on the ground medal for the grand final, while the senior best defender and team of the year member Heidi Corey was absent.
