Finals action awaits

UNDER 13B INTRUDERS V HOBITZ

With a touch of Spring in the air on Saturday morning the final games of the normal rounds of the 2022 Mount Gambier Netball Association season took place.

With the first game being the Under 13B teams of Intruders and Vicis, the contest was sure to be a big game with Intruders sitting third on the ladder and Hobitz in the final position in fourth.

The youngsters were full of fever from the first whistle blown to the last one.

The first quarter action was intense as Intruders only led by two goals at the end of play.

The second term was even more fierce with both teams going goal for goal and at half time the two-goal lead remained.

The defence was strong on both sides with plenty of moments of “ahh” and “ooh” coming from all sides of the crowd.

Intruders goal shooters made the second half of the game jampacked as they came in clutch for their team.

Hobitz fought back hard consistently throughout all quarters of the match, but unfortunately the team fell short and had a loss of 31-22 after a strong second half from Intruders.

B1 – INTRUDERS ORANGE V INTRUDERS BLACK

It was a bit of an overwhelming event when the two Intruders teams went head-to-head in the afternoon B1 game last Saturday.

In the B1 ladder, the interclub black and orange teams currently sit third and fourth respectively, so a close game was expected.

The game was a competitive one but full of friendly on-court chats, sportsmanship and plenty of laughter.

Misty Taylor, Chelsea Koopman and Dakota Miller played incredible to lead Intruders Black’s assault.

Taylor, who played in the positions of centre and wing attack for the match, went all out on the court with great intercepts and passing techniques across all four quarters.

There were even a few hits and misses every now and then, but Taylor would get back up and ‘run her guts out’.

Koopman and Miller were excellent shooters for the game and never once missed a goal.

Despite their best efforts, Intruders Black struggled to break free from its competitor and only led by a single goal at the main break.

The second half was an intense fight, but Intruders Black came out as the better side with the scoreboard reading 42-37 after a close-knit game.
