Recruits bolster clinic numbers

There are two different faces greeting patients at the medical clinic at Millicent.

Newly-appointed registrars Dr Melissa Chua and Dr Rachel Tymianski have both gained their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Australian universities.

Their first round of consultations at the Short Street premises is tomorrow (Friday).

They have opted to work in general practice and have begun their postgraduate studies towards the coveted Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.

Before their arrival, the Medical Clinic Millicent was functioning with only six GPs which is a 40-year low.
