History group help

Doors were opened for the Kalangadoo History Group last week with the gifting of a new cupboard by O’Brien Cabinets owner Bobby O’Brien.

The cupboard is in the Riddoch Memorial Institute which is the now established home of the Kalangadoo History Group and will be used to store the group’s historical books, maps and other items including artifacts from archaeological digs.

There are 12 active members in the group, chaired by Kerry Dowdell, who are working towards interpreting signs around town and developing a list of historic trees in the district.

They also interview past and present residents of Kalangadoo to record oral history.

Anyone wanting to contribute to the Kalangadoo History Group can contact Kerry Dowdell at The Shop on 8739 3074 from Tuesday to Saturday.
