Upgrades set for Millicent sites

Major renovations are planned for a Millicent school, hotel and workshop.

St Anthony’s Catholic Primary school has sought regulatory approval to demolish a portion of an existing classroom building and construct two new classrooms, toilet facilities and an enclosed play space.

The existing play space adjacent to Mount Gambier Road is to be redeveloped to include new play equipment and active play areas.

The school dates back to the colonial era as does the George Hotel which is nowadays owned by Oberdan Nominees Pty Ltd, of Adelaide.

The hotel is looking to remove the existing internal partition walls in its downstairs gaming room Interior.

Furthermore, planning permission has also been sought for the refurbishment of the gaming room, tavern bar and front bar.

The third enterprise which is looking to expand is a refrigeration business on Williams Road.

It was originally a motor mechanic’s workshop.

The current owner wants the existing workshop to be used as three separate service areas: a takeaway pizza shop, laundromat and workshop.
