There was a remarkable occasion on Sunday at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Millicent when six members of the one local family were baptised.
The first to be baptised was Jaiden William Charles Shaw-Kats who is the infant son of Samantha Shaw and Dylan Kats.
Following this ceremony, Samantha Shaw was baptised along with her four sisters: Hannah, Charlotte, Katie and Victoria.
All wore white garments which is the traditional colour for those being baptised.
They were each presented with a candle to signify the light of Christ.
Their names are now recorded among the other church records which date back to the 1870s.
All the baptisms were administered by Millicent/Penola Anglican parish priest Father Lyndon Sulzberger and the importance of this action was the subject of his sermon.
A special booklet to mark the rare occasion was produced by the parish.
Other members of the extended family were present and the ceremony was held within the usual Sunday morning service of Holy Communion.
A sumptuous morning tea in the church hall followed the service.
Samantha Shaw baked and iced a chocolate mud cake in honour of the occasion.
