Grants open to regional artists

This month Country Arts SA is launching a new funding program to provide financial assistance to regional and remote artists to access vital opportunities that build their skills, grow careers and increase employment opportunities.

The Artist Professional Development grant is designed to assist regional artists to meet their immediate needs.

Country Arts SA’s chief executive/executive director Anthony Peluso said this could include support to attend residencies and workshops, participate in mentorships, undertake masterclasses, work experience, internships and self-directed residencies or professional development opportunities.

“The Artist Professional Development program supports and empowers artists and artworkers in regional South Australia to develop their practice, produce extraordinary arts experiences and share their unique stories,” he said.

“It is anticipated that up to 30 regional artists will be supported by the program, strengthening Country Arts SA’s commitment to South Australian regional artists and communities through elevating regional engagement with the arts and for regional artists to be recognised as valued contributors to the nation’s cultural voice.

“This funding will grow the capacity of regional and remote artists; providing them with the resources, support and opportunities needed to develop their skills, advance their careers and contribute to the cultural life of their communities.”

Applicants are encouraged to discuss their opportunities with their local Country Arts SA Arts and Cultural Facilitators prior to submission, for one-on-one support.

The Artist Professional Development program is generously supported by donations to the Country Arts Foundation.
