Award representative has sought to clarify the policy stance of her Wattle Range Council on the future management of Lake George and environs.
Kintore ward councillor Sharon Cox, other council representatives, Lake George Management Committee members and local MP Nick McBride recently met with Deputy Premier and Environment Minister Dr Susan Close at the Five Mile Car Park to discuss the coastal parks review.
Cr Cox reported on the meeting and said Mayor Des Noll had been heard to say at another time that he felt it was appropriate to transfer a portion of Lake George to a National Park.
According to Cr Cox, this was not a view supported by a 400-strong public meeting about the coastal lakes review at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre earlier this year.
In reply, Mayor Noll said he was expressing a personal point of view and there had been no resolution of council on this matter.
He suggested Cr Cox bring a formal notice of motion to the next meeting to establish the council stance.
