The Millicent Show Society is making an early start on planning the celebrations to mark its 150th anniversary.


The milestone is still three years away as the first Millicent Show was staged in 1877.


Known officially as the Millicent Agricultural, Horticultural and Pastoral Society, its first president was notable Millicent pioneer George Glen.


He was the owner of Mayura Station and took the lead in establishing a number of other local organisations.


With a history stretching back around a century-and-a-half, the Millicent Show Society is appealing to the community for show-related items.


They could be historic ribbons, photos or trophies and they would provide an invaluable source of information for a proposed 150th anniversary book.


In other Millicent Show Society news, its latest Saturday market on May 4 had a record 28 stalls as well as entertainment from husband and wife duo Jason and Christy Wallace.


The committee has also decided that future markets will include one stall where a charity will not be charged a site fee.
