Millicent v Lucindale Roos


Reigning premiers Millicent Black Hats will show off a new feature at their Norm Facey Oval headquarters on Saturday in the second round of the Millicent/Naracoorte Cricket Association.


The new clubrooms were officially named the Phil Walker Pavilion at the end of the 2023/24 season in recognition of the outstanding local sportsman.


The first visiting team to make use of the facilities will be the Lucindale Roos who had to sit out the opening round.


They were due to host the Naracoorte Townies but they could not fill a team.


The double disappointment for Lucindale supporters was that ex-local and star Adelaide Crows footballer Darcy Fogarty was due to pull on the whites.


The Blacks Hats had a tight tussle in round one over the Naracoorte Warriors and should get the job done for the second consecutive week.


Naracoorte Townies v Kingston Saints


It is hoped the Naracoorte Townies will have more success in finding 11 cricketers this weekend given the match is played at home at Wortley Oval.


The Kingston Saints are back in the competition after a season’s break with some Robe recruits joining the fold.


Some have questioned the wisdom of a proposed $10m makeover of the Robe Oval given the town has repeatedly withdrawn from the local cricket competition in the past decade.


Kingston took a while to shake off Mount Burr in round one and winning form is good form.


Rendelsham Rams v Naracoorte Warriors


Rendelsham has two positive developments to report in the off-season after their trouncing at home in the 2023/24 season decider.


With the assistance of a $2000 grant from Wattle Range Council, a new carpeted pitch has been laid to replace the seven-year-old top.


Secondly, club stalwart Tyson Smith has been elevated to the position of Association secretary.


He will oversee proceedings along with new president Michael McGurk.


The Warriors were in the mix without gaining the premiership points in the opening round and will give a good account of themselves.
