Golf club takes trip down fairway

Aprominent Mount Gambier sporting organisation celebrated a significant milestone recently.

The Blue Lake Golf Club (BLGC) marked its 40th anniversary with a cocktail party attended by past and present club patrons.

Members reminisced looking at the photo boards and newspaper stories featuring versions of their younger selves.

The emcee for the evening was Blue Lake Golf Club vice president Jake Turner who introduced guests including club patron Andrew Hinton, Mount Gambier Mayor Lynette Martin OAM and BLGC life members Gavin Sparrow, Russell Lingham, Peter Sealey, Doug McPherson and Judy Collins.

Life member Gavin Sparrow and club member and manager Bill Burley shared their experiences with over 70 members and friends present on the night and some of their reminiscing was presented with a touch of humour.

The toast to the golf club was presented by Mayor Martin and the cutting of the anniversary cake was performed by Ms Collins and Mr Sparrow.

Past member Cyril Price took great pleasure in drawing the raffles donated by 10 local businesses with vouchers to the value of $40 each.
