Footy club brings rodeo back to town

Arodeo is to be staged in the Millicent district for the first time in around 20 years.

Members of the Hatherleigh sporting community are presenting the January 4 event on the town’s oval in association with Woodall Rodeo Promotions.

The last such local event was at Mick and Jean Walker Oval at Mount Burr and the Woodalls were also involved in this event.

The appetite for rodeos in this region can be seen in the popularity of those staged Kongorong and at McCorquindale Park at Penola.

The Hatherleigh gates will open at 4pm on Saturday and live action will begin two hours later.

It will feature bull riding, saddle bronc and barrel racing, and there will also be food vans, clothing and goods stalls and kids’ entertainment.

Free camping is also available at the former Hatherleigh golf course.
