Thousands line up for vaccine

Mount Gambier’s new COVID-19 vaccination clinic has provided almost 200 vaccinations during the first week of operations.

Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Ngaire Buchanan said during the first week, the clinic provided the Pfizer vaccine for people under 50 years old within phases 1a and 1b of the rollout. On Tuesday the clinic expanded to provide the vaccine for those aged between 16 and 50 years old.

“This is a great opportunity for younger people in our community to come forward and get vaccinated,” Ms Buchanan said. “We expect bookings to be popular so ask that people are patient. “Our sites have so far vaccinated more than 4600 people in the Limestone Coast region.”

“People aged 50 years and over can continue to access the AstraZeneca vaccine through local General Practices and respiratory clinics.”

COVID-19 vaccination bookings for clinics across the state are available via covidvaccine.sa.gov.au
