Batters up for summer of baseball

The Mount Gambier and District Baseball League will return in full swing for the 2020-21 summer.

Last season’s competition ended prematurely due to COVID-19, but five teams are ready to take the field this year.

Millicent is a new addition to the Division 1 competition and will open its campaign with a home game against Federal on Saturday after- noon.

South and 2019-20 premier Centrals will take centre stage at Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday night, while Tigers enjoy a bye.

Five and seven clubs are taking part in Divisions 2 and 3 respectively, while the Junior, Little and Minor leagues will also be played throughout the region on Saturday afternoon.

MGBL ROUND 1 FIXTURE: SATURDAY, OCOTBER 10.

Division 1: South v Centrals 7pm; Millicent v Federal 4pm; Tigers bye.

Division 2: South v Centrals 5pm; C/ Magpies v Federal 5pm; Tigers bye.

Division 3: South v C/Magpies 2pm; Naracoorte v Centrals 2pm; Millicent v Federal 2pm; Tigers bye.

Junior League: South v Centrals 3pm; C/ Magpies v Federal 1pm; Tigers bye.

Little League: South v Centrals 1pm; Millicent v Federal 2pm; Tigers bye.

Minor League: Federal v Centrals 3pm; Tigers bye.
