Membership of the Millicent Health Advisory Council has dropped to its lowest-ever level with just five community members.
The terms of office of long-serving members Ron Wood, Moira Neagle and Tony Glowacki expired at the recent annual general meeting and no nominations came forward.
The departing members gave a total of 14 years of service to the Millicent HAC.
Sheoak Lodge resident Ben Aardenberg had been a Millicent HAC member but he died just shy of his 89th birthday in August.
Continuing on the Millicent HAC are presiding member Dr Kevin McGrath along with Laurie Dacy, Ralph Domachenz, Deb Kirby and Lorraine Hyland.
Beachport professional lobster fisherman and Kintore ward representative Councillor Richard Cassidy is the Wattle Range Council representative.
There has not been a medical practitioner representative on the Millicent HAC since its inception in 2008.
Millicent Hospital and its Sheoak Lodge aged care facility has a workforce of 143 but none have nominated for the HAC.
Dr McGrath told the annual general meeting that member for MacKillop Nick McBride had not yet exercised his right to nominate a Millicent HAC representative.
The presiding member said he had recently spoken to Mr McBride about this situation.
He said the MP had indicated that a Tantanoola resident with experience of working in the health system in Adelaide may accept his nomination.
The start of the annual general meeting was delayed until a quorum of 15 was achieved.
This threshold was reached with the presence of four SA Health staff members.
