Successive generations of the Basheer family successfully operated hotels at Penola and Kalangadoo for much of the 20th century.

Their active involvement with this area ceased almost 50 years ago but the Basheers continue to operate hotels in Adelaide and head industry groups.

It was therefore fitting for David Basheer, pictured right, to be a guest speaker at a recent industry function at the Kalangadoo Hotel.

Following on from previous generations, Mr Basheer is president of the Australian Hotels Association (South Australia) and managing director of the prominent Strathmore and Woodville Hotels in the capital city.

Every three months, SA Police and Consumer Business Services organise a Liquor Licence Accord meeting.

This forum is an opportunity for Liquor Licence holders to get together, share information, receive briefings from SAPOL and the Liquor Licencing division and stay up to date on industry happenings.

The meeting locations rotate throughout the Limestone Coast region.
