All eyes turn to finals with home and away season done and dusted

The Dees took on the Roos on Saturday and came out on top to help seal their spot in the top two as they head into finals this weekend.

In the opening term the Dees started well as they held the Roos to only a point.

South built off their defensive work as they kicked two goals while still having room for improvement by adding four minor scores to their total.

After the opening quarter the Dees held a 15 point lead.

The Dees kept their momentum going into the second term as they rattled off four goals.

West finally found some success in the forward line as they were able to get their first goal, as the Dees headed into halftime with a comfortable 31 point lead.

In the new half the same story continued as the Roos struggled to get themselves out of the hole they had dug in the first half.

The Roos kicked three more goals in the quarter but that was not enough as the Dees continued to pile on the goals with six in the term to take a 50 point lead into the final stanza.

The scoring slowed in the fourth quarter, with only one goal scored.

The Roos kicked the single goal of

the quarter which did not help them in the comeback and they fell by 43 points.

It was a dominant performance from Brayden Kain and Mitch Sims as they both contributed three goals in the win.

South Gambier defeated West Gambier 12.10 (82) to 5.9 (39).

East Gambier v Millicent


The Saints headed to the Kennel on Saturday and came away with a solid win as they ended the season as minor premiers.

The Doggies came out hot in the opening quarter as they held their own against the Saints.

Both sides kicked two goals while Milicent took the lead by scoring one more point than the Doggies.

The Doggies began to slow down in the second term as the Saints shifted into a new gear.

Millicent kicked five goals while East could only manage two, leaving them trailing by 24 points at the main break.

The Doggies ramped up their defence in a bid to slow down the Saints in the third, holding them to two goals.

East remained a chance to steal the win in the third term as they registered another goal on the board, heading into the final term trailing by 30 points.

The Doggies continued to find success in front of goal in the final term, bagging three goals.

However the Saints refused to ease up, holding off the Dogs as they kicked four to help seal the victory and the title as minor premiers.

Millicent’s Kade Varcoe put up a good performance for the Saints while Sam Willis kicked four goals in the win.

Millicent defeated East Gambier 13.12 (90) to 8.4 (52).

North Gambier v Casterton Sandford


The Tigers came away with a strong win over the Cats on Saturday to end the season on a high heading into finals.

The Cats started hot in the opening term, kicking five goals while the Tigers remained in striking distance with a two goal quarter.

The Cats held a 21 point lead at the first break, but the Tigers rallied back in the second term and wasted no time getting to work and eroding the Cats’ lead.

The Tigers kicked four goals while holding the Cats scoreless in the term.

After an up and down half the Tigers went into half time with a seven point lead.

The Tigers continued to dominate the game as they held Casterton to one goal in the third, with North adding to their lead by kicking four goals, jumping out to a 23 point lead.

The Tigers found a new level in the final quarter as they held the Cats to only two points.

North ran up the score in the fourth as they put six goals on the board to seal the victory.

North Gambier’s Toby de Wit had a big game for the Tigers, kicking six goals in the win.

North Gambier defeated Casterton Sandford 16.10 (106) to 6.9 (45).
