Allen comes full circle

Mount Gambier racing sensation Kai Allen stepped back in time on the weekend as he returned to compete on the track on which he started his career.

Allen drove car number 26 for Penrite Racing in the 2025 Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 at the CARCO.com.au raceway for the Repco Supercars Championship.

He placed 20th in Practice 1 and 2 on Friday and qualified 8th for Race 14 and 7th for Race 15 on Saturday respectively.

Allen finished 11th in both races 14 and 15 and qualified 23rd for Race 16 on Sunday which he managed to convert into an impressive 8th place finish.

“It was really good, obviously very messy qualifying … (on Sunday) but we just put that behind us, we tracked on as a team, had a really good strategy, the car was mega and in that first stint I did 42 laps or something, so absolutely brutal but we tracked on,” Allen said.

“I was super strong at the end of that stint which really set my race up, unfortunately if I did one more lap before I pitted in the second stop I would have been in the same boat as Matty and come out probably in P4 or P3 so could have been a really strong result but still overall from 22nd (23rd) to 8th, I’m super stoked with that.

“We had two cars in the top 10, really strong points and to get to 11th yesterday (Saturday) and an 8th today (Sunday), we will just keep building from there so as a team we are working super hard, it is finally paying off and I cannot wait for Darwin in a couple weeks.

“It was a bit of a roller coaster weekend for me not doing so well in Sunday’s qualifying session, but I’m over the moon with the race results we were able to grab.

“We will keep on learning and we will come out strong in Darwin next round.”

Allen currently sits 17th in the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship and will next compete in Darwin on June 20-22 at the Hidden Valley Raceway.
