The Penola Show Society has scooped the pool of the South East of SA Show Association ambassador awards.
Penola representative Cody O’Connor was announced as the 2024 Rural Ambassador, while fellow member Henry Williams was awarded the Junior Ambassador Award.
Penola Show Society secretary Kathy Fennell was delighted with the locals’ efforts.
“We are very proud of both boys and wish them all the best at the next level,” she said.
“We have had outstanding success with our ambassadors since the inception of the competition, some 20 years ago.
“Some have gone on to win state finals and have been awarded excellent prizes for their efforts.”
Cody is a teacher at the Penola High School and Henry is currently studying Year 12 one day a week and is at Deland Engineering four days a week as an apprentice engineer.
Both will represent the SE of SA Show Association at the state finals in Adelaide later this year.
Penola Show Society president Jake Rowe, a previous state ambassador winner himself, said the locals did the society proud.
“it was a fantastic result for Penola, and both the boys spoke and presented themselves extremely well,” he said.
“I believe both of them will do the SE of SA Show Association extremely proud in the state finals.
“It is great to see young and enthusiastic people in the community coming through year after year and making the most of the opportunities presented to them.”
