Tanya Bialek was on hand at Tim Richards’ Meningie property the day Molly Be Nimble whelped her third litter – three dogs and five bitches by Barcia Bale back in April 2021.
And from the moment the brindle dog pup appeared he was always going to be Bialek’s first greyhound – no ifs or buts.
Racing as Bulsara, he brought up his seventh win at start number 82 when virtually leading all the way from box eight and defeating Kerry’s Cadillac by two lengths in last Thursday’s time-graded Carlin & Gazzard 5+W Stake over 400 metres in 23.47 seconds.
While all the litter has now won races, Bialek certainly has no regrets in regard to the brindle dog she had immediately claimed at whelping.
“The other two dogs in the litter now race as Coorong Cam, who has won 31 races and more than $68,000 in prize money, and Silk Sonic, a winner of 21 races and $31,000,” Bialek said.
“My boy certainly has not won anything like that but he’ll always be my favourite.”
By Nitro Burst out of Hopes Up, Molly Be Nimble was a winner of 24 races – her last Mount Gambier win being in August 2017 when she defeated Cryer’s Fred.
In the race prior to the win of Bulsara – the Winning Post Supplies TG5+W Stake (400 m) – the Richards owned and trained She’s Fired Up led all the way when defeating Paw Some Shade by 4½ lengths in 23.83 seconds.
By On Fire, the brindle bitch is out of She’s A Looper, a sister to former SA champion Worm Burner and a half-sister to Hopes Up.
For Coleraine breeder-owner-trainer Bob Wombwell his double last Thursday with litter sisters Eskimo Ruby and Eskimo Sugar was his first at Tara Raceway since June 2018 when litter brothers Outlaw Dave and Outlaw Eddie were both successful over 400 metres.
By Sennachie out of Serene Rose, Eskimo Ruby settled in third spot in the Icon Signs TG1-4W Stake (305 m) before finishing strongly in the run home and defeating Sophie’s Beast by a half head in 18.05 seconds.
And later in the day Eskimo Sugar led all the way in the Metal Worx TG1-4W Stake (400 m) when defeating Redemption Rock by three-quarters of a length in 23.57 seconds.
Wombwell said he was keen to keep the line going although not with Serene Rose who is now 7½ years old.
“She only ever had the one litter,” Wombwell said. “But another one of her pups in Eskimo Fly has won six races at Horsham and Warrnambool and collected more than $16,000 in prize money so I am now looking at a breeding with her.”
Bendigo owner-trainer Aaron Blake’s win with giveaway greyhound My Girl Kellie in the Fast Forward TG1-4W final (400 m) resulted in a handy return after the daughter of Feral Franky and McIvor Verna defeated Rusty Wheels by 1¾ lengths in 23.42 seconds.
With the finalists selected on times and not placings from the previous week’s heats, My Girl Kellie’s fourth fastest overall time of 23.71 seconds saw her into the final which carried a first prize of $1065.
Meanwhile, at a recent Monday night Angle Park meeting, Allendale East trainer David Peckham enjoyed his best night ever at the city track when Bourne Franky, Bourne Model, Warringah Bale and Stevie’s Girl were successful.
Two nights later Black Viper, trained at Briagolong by Matt Clark, was also successful for Peckham when winning over 390 metres at Ballarat.
And at Murray Bridge last Sunday night fellow Allendale East trainer Kev Patzel landed an impressive double with giveaway greyhound Aston Reims and bargain buy Wario. Peckham also followed up with another winner – Bourne Nicko.
Heats have been programmed for a Fast Forward 1-4 wins heats and $1740 final series over 512 metres at this Thursday’s time-graded meeting at Tara Raceway. If insufficient nominations are received for heats a one-off final will be run this week.
