Apollo looks to land return blow

Senior Men

International v Apollo

Apollo will take on Inter this Sunday at Casadio Park, with the visitors looking to avoid a repeat of their previous match up.

Last time these two teams played in round 1, International came away with a 6-1 win, with the black and blue coming into this weekend with a lot of confidence after last week’s 10-1 victory over Gambier Centrals.

Apollo will have to improve on their defence after last week’s collapse to Blue Lake where they allowed two goals in two minutes which resulted in them sharing the points with the Rangers.

Apollo will have to slow down Inter’s Matt Bueti who continues to have big games every week.

If Apollo can keep a lid on him then they may be able to come away with some points in this game.

Blue Lake v Naracoorte United

Naracoorte will head to Malseed Park this week to take on Blue Lake.

This match was a good one back in round 1 with Blue Lake coming away with the win after a late goal.

Since then Naracoorte have struggled and have not scored a goal since.

To beat Blue Lake they are going to have to find the back of the net regularly because they will struggle to defend the Rangers’ attack.

Blue Lake will need to have Shar Nay Than playing at his best this week.

Than has been possibly their best player this season, having been a reliable goal scorer and creating plenty of scoring chances for his side.

Senior women

Millicent United v Gambier Centrals

Gambier Centrals will head to Millicent this week to take on Millicent United.

Last time they played each other in round 1 Millicent got the better of Centrals, beating them 4-1.

Since that game Centrals have improved as a team, winning three out of their last four games, while United has also been solid, drawing twice and losing once.

Gambier Centrals head coach Wanita Robinson believes her side is up for the challenge against Millicent.

“I think we will be able to match them quite well, it’s just a matter of how the game likes to pan out,” she said.

“I think it will be a very even game.”

Blue Lake v Naracoorte United

Naracoorte United will head to Malseed Park this week to face Blue Lake, after the Rangers took care of Naracoorte back in round 1, defeating them 3-0.

Since then Naracoorte have not had the best start to the season as they are still looking for their first win of the season.

Blue Lake have been a bit inconsistent so far this season, winning their first two games then registering a draw and two losses.

If Blue Lake wants to hold their spot in the top four they will need to not drop any games at home and come away with the three points.

International v Apollo

Apollo will take on Inter at Casadio Park this week, with the visitors the favourite after coming away with a good win the last time these sides played, beating Inter 6-0.

Inter will have a tough task this game as they have been struggling somewhat this season and are still looking for their first win, having recorded three losses and two draws.

Apollo have been extremely good this season and have been clear favourites in every game.

They will be looking to continue their unbeaten streak heading into this game whereas Inter will be looking for their first win and an upset.
