Artist offers glimpse into COVID experience

Local artist Deborah Rogers is currently showcasing her artwork at Gallery 54 in Penola with her exhibition, “Covid Colouring In”.

The exhibition will be showing until May 9 and features original drawings from Ms Rogers personal visual diary.

Ms Rogers has exhibited her work for 30 years, however this is her first solo exhibition of new works.

The artwork featured in the exhibition depicts how Ms Rogers has spent her time in isolation along with her reflection and response to life since COVID began.

Some of the many pieces include Covid Corruption Crumbles, Peacock Dreaming, Oz Traylier and Maiden, Mother, Crone.

Ms Rogers has spent many hours of work on her art to bring the colourful exhibition to life, which was all created with Prismacolor pencils and pen on paper.

“Coloured pencil has always been my solace and yet also my comfort zone,” she said.

“I generally use this medium to brainstorm ideas and create concepts for potential paintings.”

Gallery 54 is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10am until 3pm.
