It was a colourful spectacle when 55 ladies dressed in festive attire and participated in the annual Christmas fun day at Mount Gambier Golf Club.
A nine-hole Ambrose was played using some challenging equipment such as a cricket bat, child’s putter and hockey stick on some holes before enjoying lunch and a fashion parade by Redgum Country and the inevitable skit.
Winners on the day were Janina Morrison, Tatiana Jurkov, Jennette Braun and Kerry Pedlar. Maxine McGregor, Rab Headlam, Yvonne Shirley and Andrea Pegler were the runners-up.
The final trophy presentations for the year were presented to Faye Mainwaring who won the Handicap Match Play Championship sponsored by Anne Schrapel with Helen McIntyre second.
Lorraine Bruhn representing Limestone Holdings presented the Olympic trophy to Heather Barry.
A stableford round was played on Saturday in warm and windy conditions.
A two-day count-back was necessary to determine the winner and Morrison nudged out Bernie Jennings after they both finished with 37 points.
A highlight of the day was Pedlar’s eagle on the 17th hole. Mount Gambier Golf Club women’s president Mary Kentish and captain Faye Mainwaring kept the golfers hydrated during their round last Wednesday.
