Auto action comes to town

The South Eastern Automobile Club will play host to the SA State Championship AutoX which will be held this Saturday and Sunday at SEAC Park.

Not being able to hold the event in 2021 due to unforeseen circumstances this will a perfect time to showcase some of the best drivers from around the country.

Event director Kevin Raedel is very much a big part of the weekend and is looking forward to hosting.

“We have 42 cars nominated for the weekend and they are coming from far and wide,” he said.

“We have had some nominations pull out due to Covid-19 and the price of fuel is ridiculous and people will not travel with the costs involved.

“Some of the cars to look out for will be Darren Windus who is a previous Australian Rally Championship winner along with Justin Dowel another former ARC champion.

“Troy Dowel is very handy at SEAC and rally cross and Matt Muir will be fast in a purpose-built car.”

Adelaide based drivers in Bradley and Michael Clements will put on a good show of AutoX driving.

The highlight of the weekend will be having local competitors Simon Feil and Dale Cagney who will look to use their track knowledge and experience.

“Cagney has been in supreme form around SEAC and will be hot on the heals,” Readel said.

Readel also believes the track conditions will put on a great show.

“Track conditions are good but we have had a lot of rain and it will dry out with plenty of spectating to be had and some quick cars,” he said

The action will kick off around 2.30pm on Saturday and run up until 9.30pm before Sunday’s action takes place between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

Presentation will be held at the conclusion of the meeting with a dinner.
