Backstage conference

Mount Gambier was represented at the bi-annual conference of the Association of Eisteddfod Societies of Australia.

Backstage Incorporated president Natalia Chalinor attended the conference along with 100 member societies from around Australia, with some participants joining via videolink.

Backstage is the producer of the Mount Gambier Eisteddfod.

Among matters discussed were changes to child protection laws, compulsory registration with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission and proposals to create uniform timing or age groups.

Apart from Ms Chalinor, other Mount Gambier attendees were Maxine Chalinor and Tony Chalinor, with the trio travelling to Traralgon for the two and a half day conference.
