Thanks to the support of the Robe and Districts Community Bank, the Beachport Golf Club has announced a development plan to bring Golf Australia’s MYGolf Junior Introductory Program to the youth of Beachport and the surrounding areas.
The club has developed an Orange Short Course, which is ideal for beginners and young golfers.
The course is shorter than the usual nine-hole course and is marked by orange posts and tiles on the fairways.
These new tee-off areas enable learners to enjoy the game as they do not have to be able to hit as far.
The new course is ready and Junior Golf Co-ordinator Greg Cook, has scheduled some coaching sessions this Sunday from 10am in the cricket oval.
The weekly sessions will run each week from 10am to 12pm until Sunday, December 19 and cost just $5 for anyone under the age of 16.
The sessions will involve learning all aspects of the game before the players have a chance to go onto the course for a modified game.
All equipment is provided, while a barbecue will be held near the clubhouse afterwards.
From the first Thursday of next month, Twilight golf will commence.
Greg Cook and other volunteers will be available to play a nine-hole competition with any new golfers from 4.30pm.
The cost is $5 and the Club also has a barbecue and salad dinner commencing at 7pm.
During the January holidays, Beachport will also be running some Come and Try sessions.
