High profile political identity Peta Credlin is expected to address local Liberal Party members at the Barker pre-selection contest at Murray Bridge on Saturday.
Hundreds of members are tipped to vote in the secret ballot and they have a choice between incumbent Tony Pasin and registered nurse Katherine McBride.
The presence of Ms Credlin will generate interest in an otherwise low-profile preselection contest.
She is perhaps best-known as the chief-of-staff to Tony Abbott when he was Prime Minister between 2013 and 2015.
Ms Credlin has her own weeknight television program on Sky News and writes columns for capital city newspapers.
Her husband is former Liberal Party federal director Brian Loughnane.
According to multiple Liberal Party sources, Ms Credlin will address members at the conclusion of the Barker preselection ballot.
Meanwhile, both Mr Pasin and Ms McBride have produced booklets in an attempt to secure the votes of members.
Mr Pasin was targeted with unflattering remarks in State Parliament last week by Labor ministers Tom Koutsantonis and Clare Scriven.
