Beachport bowls club upgrade complete

The $400,000 Beachport Bowling Club building upgrade has been completed by contractors engaged by Wattle Range Council.

Parts of the building date back to the 1870s when it was built as the terminus for the Mount Gambier/Beachport rail line.

Funding from the Federal Government under Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Programs has helped bring the project to fruition.

According to a staff report, council officers are in discussions with the club committee for the drafting of a new lease agreement between the parties.

An official opening is being planned.
