Alocal family is reportedly set to open Bompa’s at Beachport after its doors have been closed for a few months.

Bompa’s has been one of the landmark properties of the township since its erection as a hotel in 1878.

For much of the 20th Century, it was unlicensed and it traded as a general store, coffee palace and boarding house.

The Wheal family took over the freehold ownership in 1988, obtained a liquor licence, re-named it as Bompa’s and updated and expanded the premises.

The Wheal family had retained the freehold ownership until just over a year ago.
