Beachport steps up to health challenge

Aseaside fitness initiative has recently had its first outing at Beachport with more than 20 participants.

The Beachport Let’s Get Movin’ Walk has been arranged by a group of local residents led by Linda Carter Shephard.

With the support of Beachport Rivoli Bay Lions Club and the Wattle Range Council, an initial track has been signed and distance markers placed at every 250m.

The 2.5km course begins at the war memorial rotunda and runs along the boardwalk, past the anchor and ends at the pedestrian crossing on Millicent Road.

A council spokesperson said the initiative is aimed at everyone from those in the community that do not normally even consider exercise to regular exercisers to band together and support each other to reach individual goals.

“Wattle Range Council has completed the markings and signage and added a page to the Council website with maps and information to support commencing an exercise program,” the spokesperson said.
