A significant bequest has come to Millicent and District Hospital for use at its 60-bed attached Sheoak Lodge care home.
A former resident remembered the aged care facility in his will and the large sum will meet the costs of a major refurbishment of its common area.
The man had formerly lived in the Millicent district and died a few years ago. The hospital will honour the bequest by naming the common area after the donor.
His bequest was revealed at the recent annual general meeting of the Millicent Health Advisory Council.
HAC presiding member Brenton Dohnt referred to it in his yearly report but did not identify the donor nor the amount of his bequest.
Millicent Hospital executive officer/ nursing director Michelle de Wit said work on the refurbishment was continuing. Once completed, she said an official opening would be held and the donor would be identified and honoured.
