The Globe Hotel Big Bash competition is in for a double dose this week – with two rounds scheduled on two consecutive days.
Last Sunday’s opening round was postponed due to poor weather conditions, with the sides set to take to the field last night for the rescheduled matches.
Round 2 is scheduled for tonight, and round 3 was initially scheduled to follow on Sunday, however it has now been postponed to accommodate the Adelaide Test.
Round 2 Thursday
Penola v West Gambier
This afternoon West Gambier will travel to McCorquindale Park to face Penola.
Both sides had solid seasons last year and will be looking to build off that early on.
The two sides have plenty of players that have found some great form in the Barber Shield.
For Penola they will be looking for Jack Mullan to take his Barber Shield form into the T20 format.
Mullan has put up some big scores lately and will be looking to continue it in the big bash league.
For West their captain Justin de Jong has gotten off to a solid start in the Barber Shield and will be looking to continue his great play and leadership tonight.
East Gambier v Mil Lel
East Gambier will host Mil Lel tonight at Allan Scott Park.
The reigning premiers will look to get off to a flying start in the new season as they take on a side that struggled a bit last year.
The Doggies have got lots of firepower across their batting order which will make for a tough task for Mil Lel.
Players like Emerson Marks and Alex Hentschke have shown they can dominate in the T20 format and have been solid so far this season in the Barber Shield.
Mil Lel have an exciting young side that should be a lot more experienced after last season as well as this season’s shield games where Mil Lel has played solidly.
South Gambier v North Sportsmans
North Sportsmans will face off against South Gambier tonight at Blue Lake Sports Park.
The Tigers will be looking to get off to a hot start after their tough grand final loss last season.
The T20 competition will be good for the Dees who have been struggling a bit in the Barber Shield.
Hopefully these games can get some form into the South players.
