Last month local BMX riders competed in the 2024 SA State Championships in Adelaide at Tea Tree Gully BMX Club.
Across the two day weekend 16 riders from Blue Lake BMX Club raced on the Saturday with 12 of the riders finishing with a state plate.
The weekend served up some windy weather conditions which brought a few challenges for the riders, but the track was overall pretty solid for racers.
“It was not too bad, it was pretty windy up there so it was a bit hard with the wind but the track itself was pretty nice,” Blue Lake BMX coach and racer Josh Cram said.
A notable local racer from the weekend was Jaiden Picken who was awarded with a 10 Year Consecutive Attendance plaque, while also ranking second in the 16 Boys class and finishing seventh in the Junior Superclass Men category on the Sunday.
Another top performer was Sherridan Picken who placed third in the Junior Superclass Women category and also ranked third in the 14 Girls cclass.
Other top performers from the weekend were Tom Castleman who finished first in the rankings in the 35-39 Men class, while Kynan Davey ranked second in the same category.
