Book worm Christmas comes early

The Mount Gambier Library is offering members the opportunity to attend a free online event hosted by best-selling Australian authors next week.

The event will feature authors Ben Hobson and Maya Linnell, as well as podcaster and florist Rebecca Noble and Kristi Brooks from Mount Gambier Library.

Christmas with Ben and Maya is the combination of two monthly events; Library Lovers with Maya Linnell and Ben’s Book Club.

These interactive live streams are professionally run and presented, yet friendly and accessible; readers from anywhere in Australia can enjoy engaging conversations and interviews during these community events each month from the comfort of their own home, at no cost.

As the year comes to an end, Maya and Ben are joining forces for a festive book club special, discussing Maya’s latest book Paperbark Hill and interviewing Rebecca Noble, the host of floristry and gardening podcast ‘Dish the Dirt’, on the best gifts for your favourite green thumb and how to nail your Christmas table arrangement.

Maya and Ben will also interview Mount Gambier Library’s Kristi Brooks about how the library is celebrating this holiday season.

These online initiatives are offered by library platform OverDrive for their Libby reading app.

The Libby app features the digital books and magazines highlighted during these events along with other ebooks, audiobooks and magazines which can be accessed from participating libraries and borrowed free of charge. This month’s featured title, Paperbark Hill by Maya Linnell is now available to borrow from Mount Gambier Library with no waitlist.

Ben’s Book Club will continue to be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month in 2023 and invites all attendees to engage and interact with authors from all genres.
