Border arrest

Police have been kept busy in the region dealing with COVID-19 border breaches.

A man travelled through the South Australia and Victoria border at Glenburnie last week.

He was later located by police in Kingston and was arrested for breaching the Emergency Management Directions.

The man was remanded and expected to appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court early next year.

Only 24 hours later, a man was arrested after failing to comply with the Emergency Management Direction at Mount Gambier.

He had previously been denied entry to South Australia from Victoria.

The man was refused bail and will appear in court at a later date.

Another man was located on a freight train which had arrived from Victoria.

The man had applied for a Cross Border Travel Registration, however, did not await the result.

He was arrested for failing to comply with the Emergency Management Direction.

The man was refused bail, appeared in court on October 21 and was remanded in custody until a later date in November 2020.

Yet another man known to police was arrested after failing to comply with directions under the Emergency Act.

The man had previously attempted to enter SA from VIC and had completed a Cross Border Travel Registration but was still awaiting the outcome.

The man was located and later presented himself to police.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in court at a later date in November.

COVID-19 Emergency Management Directions remain in place and suspected breaches can be reported via the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.

All people travelling to South Australia must complete the Cross Border Travel Registration.
