The annual Call to Arms charity football match will be staged between East Gambier and West Gambier at Malseed Park on Saturday.
It has been played each year since 2011 and honours the memory of late player Phil Muhovics who died of cancer the previous year.
The best on ground will receive the Phil Muhovics Memorial Medal which is donated each year by the Muhovics family.
The Roos will be looking for their sixth win and to improve their current ranking of fourth.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have yet to open their account in the new Limestone Coast Football Netball League.
The Call to Arms campaign to support men’s cancer issues was initiated in 2006 by star AFL Bomber Adam Ramanauskas in conjunction with the Essendon Football Club and the Cancer Council.
Since its humble beginnings, the program has rapidly gained momentum across the AFL grassroots community.
Phil Muhovics was a noted footy identity in this region and he died of bone cancer in 2010 at the age of 53.
He played at five clubs across the South East and was a senior coach at four of them and an underage coach at the fifth.
Throughout his time in football, he took great pride in representing the various local leagues in interleague matches.
His footy career began in the juniors at his home town of Glencoe and he made his A Grade debut with the Murphies.
He then headed to West Gambier where he played 78 games.
Phil then crossed to the other end of the city and played for the East Gambier Bulldogs including two losing grand finals.
The 1987-88 seasons saw him at the helm of his home club of Glencoe.
At the end of the 1980s, Phil was appointed as captain-coach of Robe and the Roosters were runners-up in 1989 and 1990.
After four seasons as Roosters playing coach, Phil returned to the ranks as a player with East Gambier in 1991 and Nangwarry in 1992.
Yet another grand final defeat occurred with the Saints in 1992.
However, sweet victory was not far away for Phil after 19 seasons without a premiership.
Nangwarry elevated Phil to the coaching role in 1993 and this proved to be the start of a golden era for him and the Saints.
With brothers Greg and Mike in the line up, Phil took Nangwarry to their first ever premiership.
The Saints also went top in 1994 and 1997 with Phil in a non-playing role.
In the following seasons, Phil had lengthy coaching stints with Nangwarry and East Gambier but could not gain another grand final success.
After a break from footy, he re-emerged as the goal umpire for the West Gambier Under 12s in 2007 and then coached underage teams.
The Muhovics family also remembers Phil each year as they donate trophies when Nangwarry plays Glencoe.
South Gambier v Casterton Sandford
Casterton Sandford will head to Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday to take on South Gambier.
Last time these sides played South got the win in Casterton by 17 points.
Both sides are coming off tough losses and will be looking to get back on the winners list.
Although the Cats have not had many wins this season they have still been very competitive in all of their games.
This showed the last time these sides played as the Cats held the Dees to two points in the final quarter and nearly made a comeback to win the game.
After last week’s defeat the Dees have now fallen to third on the ladder and will be looking to get a win this week to move back to that second place position.
North Gambier v Millicent
The Saints will head to Vansittart Park on Saturday to take on the Tigers.
Last time these sides played in the grand final rematch game, the Saints came away with a one point win at home.
Since then both sides have been dominant as North has not lost a game while the Saints have only dropped one game back in round 4.
The Tigers will be hungry for a win over the reigning premiers after what happened last time and they will have a bit of an advantage playing at home.
The Tigers have been very good at Vansittart Park this season, only losing once at home back on Anzac Day.
This will definitely be a great game as the two top teams on the ladder face off.
