Cats coach signed for ‘24 season

Casterton Sandford has announced Jarrod O’Brien (pictured) as its senior coach for the new-look Limestone Coast Football Netball League season.

O’Brien joined the club at the beginning of the 2023 season and quickly became a key member of the A Grade team.

O’Brien has spent time with Central Districts in the SANFL as well as winning league best and fairest and making team of the year for Hamilton.

The club was impressed with his leadership and knowledge of the game as O’Brien attempts to drive the team to bigger things on field after just missing out on finals in 2023.

O’Brien will be taking over from Kane Forbes who led the club successfully over the past two seasons.

Joining O’Brien as assistant coach for the 2024 season will be Cal Currie who has signed on to return to the Cattery.

Currie, who began his footballing career at Casterton Sandford, has played across Australia before returning to the club.

Currie has spent time with North Ballarat in the VFL as well as Redan, Torquay and Newlyn.

Currie has also played in a premiership side in Darwin, but now returns to the Cats hoping to help guide the club to its third A Grade flag and first since 1990.
