THE Cats certainly made some strides in 2024, claiming drought breaking victories and looming as a challenger.
The good news for Casterton Sandford is they have recruited a quality goal shooter in Danielle Tooley and hopes are high she will help the Cats rise even further up the ladder, working in combination with the unassuming but effective Chelsea Hulm, the young goal attack boasting well-timed drives and when on song, great accuracy.
The rest of the line-up is full of familiar faces, with 2024 recruit Holly Smith, who has been a swing player her entire career, moving to goalkeeper after a season of shooting, combining with the Cats’ other star 2024 recruit, Chloe Finnigan, who was sorely missed with her late-season, long-term injury.
Caeleigh Humphries had a top five finish in the 2024 best & fairest count and she is being freed up from circle defence to the mid court where her athleticism will be a huge asset.
Playing coach, Madalene Cleary, will start in the mid court. but her ability to head into the shooting circle or defensive circle means the Cats will always have an element of unpredictability.
Indi Longhurst debuted permanently in A Grade in 2024 and her pace and smarts are a huge asset for Casterton Sandford.
Given the relative stability of the line-up and the quality of the new recruit, Casterton Sandford will be hoping they can start to challenge quite a few of the LCFNL teams.
