Celebs out and about

Apair of Aussie celebrities have turned the spotlight onto the Limestone Coast in the last week, as they documented their visit to the region through their popular social media accounts.

Australian singer songwriter Missy Higgins visited some iconic Limestone Coast landmarks recently when she was in the area headlining SummerSalt, while AFL superstar and Collingwood captain Darcy Moore toured several local tourist attractions in the lead up to Gather Round.

ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Ms Higgins jumped into the Little Blue Lake with her bassist/backup singer Zoe Hauptmann and keyboardist Sarah Belkner.

“I have become obsessed with finding a big beautiful body of water to jump in wherever we go on tour (the colder the better),” she shared to her Instagram and Facebook.

Ms Higgins also took an early morning run around the Blue Lake before her drive to Victor Harbor for the next show.

“Thanks to all the lovely people who shouted nice things to me about the show last night,” she posted to her socials the day following the show.

Meanwhile Mr Moore visited the region with the South Australian Tourism Commission for promotion during this weekend’s Gather Round.

He visited Kilsby Sinkhole, Umpherston Sinkhole, Mayura Station and Little Presto.

Mr Moore’s itinerary also included a visit to Robe, staying at Robe Lifestyle Properties (Koko), dining at Drift Café as well as visiting Cape Jaffa Wines.

“To maximise the opportunity of the huge broadcast coverage of events like AFL Gather Round, the AFL – in partnership with the SATC – engages with players to experience our state’s regions and showcase them to a national audience,” a South Australian Tourism Commission spokesperson said.

“The content produced has been used across players’ social media channels, but also for broadcast and other media opportunities.

“The itinerary was designed to encourage interstate visitors to take a road trip to South Australia for AFL Gather Round and consider taking the scenic route through the beautiful Limestone Coast region.

“By showcasing AFL players experiencing South Australia’s regions, we are able to tell the broader story of South Australia – going beyond the Gather Round match locations of Adelaide, Norwood and Barossa.”
