Charity fashion parade takes off

Generous community support was obvious at the annual Millicent Royal Flying Doctor Support Group Second Chance Fashion Parade at the Millicent Gallery last week.

Admission fees and raffle proceeds generated around $1300 for the RFDS.

There were no spare seats in the Millicent Gallery as the 13 models took to the catwalk. They included Millicent High School students who modelled their own creations.

Otherwise, all other garments came from two local thrift shops and hence the title “Second Chance”.

Millicent RFDS Support Group president Stewie Pounsett said he was thankful to Wilma Moore from the Walnut Shop and Shari Noll from the Seventh Day Adventist Opportunity Shop for helping all mannequins parade some great outfits.

Mr Pounsett said thanks were also extended to master of ceremonies and baker of scones Wendy Thomson and the RFDS members and volunteers who worked behind the scenes.,

“The Second Chance Fashion Parade proceeds will help keep the Flying Doctors in the air and servicing Millicent and the region,” he said.

“We are planning a major Christmas raffle as well as a golf day in 2025.”
