Mount Gambier City Council will change its monthly meetings schedule for December and January.

Following a review, council has opted to hold its December meeting one week earlier on the second Tuesday of the month, being December 12.

In her report to council, Corporate and Regulatory Services executive administrator Ashlee Pasquazzi said if council was to hold the December meeting on the third Tuesday of the month the meeting would be scheduled for December 19.

This is three days before the holiday close down period.

It was unanimously decided by all elected members to avoid the week leading into Christmas.

Monthly meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month.

The January 2024 meeting will be held a week later, on the fourth Tuesday of the month, being January 23.

It was decided this would provide more opportunity for agenda preparation following Christmas.

Meanwhile, council’s principal office will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period from 2pm on December 22 and will reopen on January 2.
