Bestselling author Meredith Appleyard returns to the Mount Gambier Library next week with the launch of her seventh book Becoming Beth.
Becoming Beth is a warm-hearted story about self-discovery, grief, family, and community.
Following the breakdown of her 15-year marriage and the death of her mother, Beth discovers documents that reveals deep family secrets.
These secrets trigger memories of a very traumatic time in Beth’s earlier teenage years.
Team Leader Library Programs Kristi Brooks said Meredith has again plotted together a well-balanced family saga filled with love and loss, grief, and growth.
“Becoming Beth will appeal to anyone who enjoys titles from popular authors such as Tricia Stringer and Liz Byrski,” Ms Brooks said.
As a registered nurse and midwife, Meredith practiced in a wide range of country health settings including the Royal Flying Doctors, an agency nurse in London, and a volunteer in Vietnam.
Meredith’s first three novels all draw on these nursing experiences with a strong medical storyline, whilst her last four novels are based on strong women and complex yet relatable family situations.
With Becoming Beth officially hitting the shelves early this month, advance copies have already received five star rating reviews.
The free event will be held on September 20 at 7pm, with bookings available by contacting the Mount Gambier Library on 8721 2540 or book online at www.mountgambier.sa.gov.au/library under ‘Programs and Events’.
