City Probus club lunch held

The Gambier City Ladies Probus Club held their Christmas Lunch recently.

The function was held at the Mount Gambier Bowling Club, where 50 members enjoyed a two-course meal.

Club President Judy Renney said grace before the meal was served.

Program officer Bev McLean and activities officer Gloria Lennon invited Louise Adams, who is a local music artist and who was runner up in the 2015 X Factor competition, to be the guest speaker and entertainer for the afternoon.

“The members were very impressed with her story and singing,” Ms Renney said. “We are very lucky to have such a lovely talented young woman in our region.”

The club, which is a ladies-only club, meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Mount Gambier Bowling Club. Probus is all about fellowship and friendship and does not fund raise.

Women who are aged over 55, who have given up work and have spare time or are lonely are invited to join.

Each month the club hosts a guest speaker, as well as taking various outings across the region.
