Club honours stalwarts

Decades of voluntary service to the Millicent Golf Club was recently recognised when retired local businessmen Mick Pedler and Bruce Packer were both awarded life membership.

It was the high point of the annual general meeting and the decision was announced by re-elected club president Mark Pilmore.

“Bruce and Mick have willingly donated their time at working bees and served on various committees for many years,” Pilmore said.

“The meeting also updated the constitution which has not been changed for many years.

“We followed the template suggested by Golf Australia.”

Joining Pilmore in key administrative roles are Anthony Driessen (vice president and course manager) and Ron Hateley (secretary/treasurer).

The next highlight for the club was the Good Friday Ambrose.

It has run for many years and the 2022 event attracted a record field of 136 from across the region.

The winning team of four golfers from Adelaide included former Millicent club champion Harry Coote.
