Moves to overcome a fuel supply problem at Robe at the peak of the festive season have been thwarted.
The Robe District Council had hoped to establish a second diesel-only fuel outlet with public access at council’s works depot.
However, the council has issued a press statement advising the second diesel-only outlet has been delayed.
“This is because Kain & Shelton (Agencies) Pty Ltd trading as K&S Fuels were unable to secure specialist providers that are required to allow the facility to operate,” stated the council press statement.
“Robe District Council has been working proactively with K&S Fuels, who formerly leased the now-closed Caltex site on Adelaide Road and also supply Robe Auto and Marine, to find a solution to ensuring the community and visitors can be serviced through the peak season.
“However, K&S Fuels did advise the Robe District Council their project to establish the new outlet was on a very tight timeline.
“The delay will mean the new outlet will not be open until January.
“In terms of the project to date, K&S Fuels have installed a 78,000 litre bunded bulk fuel storage tank within the council’s works depot.
“The storage tank will be used to not only deliver diesel to the public bowsers but also provide diesel to council plant and equipment.
“The bowsers are secured in council’s works depot and will be installed once new concrete has been laid.
“The Robe District Council would like to thank the local contractors who have proactively worked on this project with the intent of an early delivery.
“Every endeavour has been undertaken to deliver the project before Christmas.”
