Robe real estate is a robust market at the moment as shown by a house fetching more than $1m at a recent auction.
The Elizabeth Street property had been held in the same family for over 60 years and the price achieved was above the reserve.
It is located only 80 metres from the main thoroughfare of Victoria Street.
The selling agents had shown dozens of potential buyers through the five-bedroomed house at both open and private inspections.
There were subsequently 12 registered bidders at the auction.
An opening bid of $1m was made from the floor and then the auction was suspended to enable private negotiations to be undertaken.
It was then announced that it had been sold but the price would not be disclosed at the request of both the vendor and the purchaser.
Elders agent Grant Schubert said the Robe real estate was extremely strong.
He said the new owners came from this region.
“There is also a strong demand for rentals,” Mr Schubert said.
“We have sold six houses off-market in the past month.
“There was also the 45 blocks of the Brouer Estate on Beacon Hill Road which sold off-market in the space of four days.
“The volume of buyers may be down but they are definitely still there.”
Meanwhile, a new record house price for Robe might be achieved.
Elders has recently listed a house for sale by private treaty in excess of $3m.
