Two Millicent men died in a boating incident at Beachport yesterday morning.
Police and SAAS were called to a beach near Point Connor just south of Beachport about 11.30am after reports that a boat had capsized and three people were unresponsive on shore.
A 59-year-old woman was taken to hospital.
Sadly, two men aged 82 and 69 were pronounced deceased at the scene.
It is understood the trio, members of well known local families, set off from Southend to check craypots before the incident occurred.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing with the assistance of the Water Operations Unit.
There are no suspicious circumstances and police will be preparing a report for the Coroner.
Yesterday’s tragedy was the second double fatality to rock the region, following an horrific crash near Nangwarry on December 28.
Police and emergency services were called to the Riddoch Highway after reports of a crash involving a Ford station wagon and a Toyota utility just after 10.30am.
The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old Nangwarry woman, died at the scene.
The passenger in the Ford, a 68-year-old Mount Gambier woman, was taken to hospital where she later passed away.
The driver of the Toyota, a 60-year-old man and his passenger, a 23-year-old man both of Mingbool were not injured.
