Colourful initiative boosts school project

McDonald Park Primary School has been painted with generosity following its biggest fundraising event of the year – a colour run.

School senior leader and event organiser Daniel Castle was pleased with the school community’s fundraising efforts.

“We are raising money for a new playground and while we are unsure of the full amount, we have passed our goal,” he said.

Mr Castle said it was the school’s second time running the colourful event with students from foundation to Year 7 traversing around the whole school obstacle course.

Students had six different obstacles to navigate around situated next to colour stations.

“The obstacles consisted of hay bales, a tyre obstruction where kids run through the tyres, a water obstacle where kids are sprayed with water, some hurdles made from pallets, running through pool noodles hanging above and an army crawl under a flag,” Mr Castle said.

Mr Castle said in a welcome addition parents were able to spectate this year.

“It was the first time we could have spectators for a large outdoor event for quite some time and we had a lot of parents volunteering as well,” he said.

“It was really great to just pull together and have the event and supporting the event through volunteering and making donations it is just one of those events that people remember after school.”
